PointsInDetailsDetails of pointsystemThe principle of the system is very simple: the more contestants, the more points. This is based on the idea that you deserve a higher reward for winning over 5 others than over 2. For each race the total sum of points is 10 points per contestant, and the relation between "neighbouring places" is constant. This means that if the first place earns 15% more points than number 2, then number 2 also earns 15% more points than number 3, etc. It all ends up with last place earning at least 1 point. In practice it's very difficult to make these calculations in your head, so we use the table seen on this page. Due to rounding errors the sum does not always add up to 10 points per contestant, but we've chosen to not adjust the points accordingly. In the table you have number of participants down ("D") and ranking across ("P"). So if you want the points scored for finishing 3rd in a 7 contestant race, you first find the row for 7 contestants and then the 3rd number therein: 11 points. |
